About The Steel Yard
The Steel Yard opened in October 1989 on the busiest industrial street in Portland, Oregon. We opened to fill a niche as a steel distributor. The purpose of the business is to cater to welding shops, fabricators, contractors, lumber and logging interests, fishing, agriculture, and other wholesale steel users. As well as on a retail basis to walk-ins, do-it-yourselfers, and small shop owners. As the business grew in the 1990's, we've added trucks, burning tables (both Oxy-fuel and Plasma), saws, a shear, iron workers, and various other equipment. We stock a wide range of mild steel shapes including plate, sheet, angle, channel, flat-bar, rounds, squares, tubing, rebar, beams, pipe, cold finished rounds & squares, expanded metal, grating, etc. (Click here for our Line Card) Our employees, most of whom have been in the steel business for twenty years plus, are courteous, knowledgeable, and customer-oriented.
